#CoronaChronicles #1 Being You

So clearly, the restless, kinda-lost, forever-on-the-move souls like me, absolutely find ourselves like a fish out of water, thanks to #SocialDistancing i.e. #ForcedHomeArrest! Even our favorite phrase on the phone, “Hey I got to run, Catch you later” seems out of place, for there's nowhere to run!

And now that I have (mostly) achieved maniac level scores on the 1st of my OCDs i.e. deep cleaning the corners of the home, I have now decided to do what I reckon is the next best thing I do - Write it out!

So what has the one week in quarantine (and 11 days of no household help) taught some of us:
  1. You Cope & Adapt– You cope, no matter what life throws at you, like a rock star! 7 straight days of not even having stepped out on errands, for a person that spends 10+ hours a day outside home and you are still not talking to inanimate objects (as yet)! And who would have ever guessed you'll be OK with, and actually make plans to keep yourself occupied for another 21 days of house arrest - What other living proof of adaptation do we need!
  2. You Discover – You discover skills you never knew you possessed.. like (magically) finishing all the house chores and turning up (in a sane & presentable manner) for your 8:30 am meeting at work! And you go on for 10.5 hours straight and deal with unplanned agenda while motivating people around you… You find new ways to connect to your 1st, 2nd and 3rd circles in ways you never did before the forced isolation…
  3. You peer within – You meditate, read, run, cook, clean, code, learn - Whatever it is that helps you connect with the real you to rediscover & find peace with the inner you! At the end of the day, you rejuvenate with latent interests / passions you never knew existed (P.S. Getting complimented for a painting when you can’t draw to save your life ain’t going unaccounted)!!
  4. You empathize and help – You empathize with those that are in situations unlike you... you check if you can be of any help and you actually do your best to help those that need it most! You offer conversations, financial aid and/or job security after all this settles down… You assure people around you that all will be fine, and that you’ll be there for them, should they need you!
  5. You display Gratitude – You thank the Almighty for all the good around you.. You smile and hope that this abrupt stand-still across the globe will slow down the melting of the glaciers.. May be we will spot those stars in the pollution-free clear sky.. hear the sparrows chirping, shortly! You equally emote – When either of the ‘Navarasa’ - the nine core emotions come to the fore, you go through the entire cycle… For that’s the real you! And then you mutter a quiet prayer for all this global chaos to end, and for normalcy to re-appear, and get going to the next chore awaiting your attention!

That’s what’s kept some of us busy the past one week! What about you….

Understandable and very well captured thoughts.
This is an unprecedented time in our history.
The pandemic is having an impact on the health of our loved ones, the businesses we rely upon, the health of the global economy, and the way we live our daily lives.
I guess each of us possess a very unique quality or skill to continue, navigate through these unique and evolving challenges.
The challenges post the settlement (est. 45-60 days more) are going to be even more demanding on each one of us. The way we work, interact, shop goods, do business will change forever
Again Keep your cool, darling, this shall pass
